OECD Consumer Confidence Index
The OECD Consumer Confidence Index provides an indication of future developments of households’ consumption and savings, based upon answers regarding their expected financial situation, sentiments on the general economic situation, unemployment, and capability of savings. A reading above 100 signals a boost in the consumers’ confidence towards the future economic situation, leading to less saving and a higher likelihood of significant spending within the next 12 months. Conversely, a reading below 100 indicates a pessimistic outlook on the economy, which may result in more saving and less spending.
