Human Development Index (HDI)
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a standard index for measuring the socioeconomic development of countries, released annually by the United Nations Development Programme since 1990. This index assesses development through three main factors: life expectancy at birth, years of education (including both average years of education received and expected years of schooling), and per capita gross national income. Based on these metrics, countries are categorized into four development levels: very high, high, medium, and low. Furthermore, only countries classified in the "very high" category (with an HDI value of 0.8 or above) meet the criteria for being considered developed nations.
