The PC industry involves integrating hardware components (e.g., screens, processors, and graphics cards) with software technologies (e.g., operating systems, drivers, word processing software, and web browsers) to create computing devices like personal computers and laptops. These devices offer better tools for data processing, storage, video conferencing, social networking, and entertainment. The industry can be divided into three segments:

1. Component Manufacturing: This segment focuses on producing the complex and wide range of electronic components in personal computers and laptops, including CPUs, memory, storage units, screens, and displays.

2. Computer Assembly: This segment focuses on assembling components into finished personal computers or laptops. Companies in this segment can be categorized as original brand manufacturers (OBMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs), or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). There are also electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers that go beyond manufacturing and offer other value-added services like inventory management, logistics, product repair, and supply chain expertise.

3. PC Brands: This is the downstream segment that directly addresses end customers. Brands engage in the design, technology development, hardware-software integration, marketing, and sales of PCs. Well-established brands possess high brand value, and some brands, like MSI, also operate their own manufacturing facilities.

4. Industrial PCs: Unlike consumer PCs, industrial computers require higher reliability, durability, and expandability to operate in challenging environments for extended periods. These devices are used for data processing, monitoring, control, and automation tasks.
